The never-ending supply of insane celebrity gossip, The Mirror, has reported the Babyshambles singer has already started jogging in preparation for next year’s gruelling 26-mile road race.

Pete is running in Wiltshire with his former landlord, marathon man and radio station boss Ralph Bernard. We’re told: “Ralph knocked on Pete’s door one day and they went for a run. Despite being completely out of shape, Pete enjoyed it and he’s been out again and again.”

The runs went so well, Ralph suggested that Pete try a marathon. Pete’s management would only say last night: “There is some truth to this - you never know what could happen.”

A spokesman for Bernard’s Capital Radio confirmed: “Ralph loves running marathons and probably persuaded Pete to try his luck.” Although the thought of Pete doing something healthy seems odd, good on him for trying to get fit.

Pete is also doing press-ups and meditating. A friend said: “He thinks that running is a great way to get back in shape - especially after piling on the pounds in rehab.

“He knows that people will be surprised by his efforts to be healthier but he really wants to turn over a new leaf.”

Actress Helena Bonham Carter and her partner, director Tim Burton, have been blessed with the birth of their daughter. This baby girl will join her big brother, four-year-old Billy in the Carter-Burton family.

The actress’s spokeswoman, Karon Maskill told people magazine “They are absolutely delighted they have a daughter,”

She continued “It’s a lovely Christmas present for the family.”

During her pregnancy, the “Fight Club” actress told press, “I just can’t wait. It’s hard to imagine we can make anything other than Billy.”

Earlier in her pregnancy, Helena joked that her new baby was getting tired of the constant rehearsals for her latest film Sweeny Todd. She said “Maybe the baby’s going to come out with his hands on his ears: ‘Shut up!’”

Carter also revealed somthing about her fluctuating breast size during the “Sweeny Todd” filming schedule, as it was done during different phases of her pregnancy. “Anyone who pays attention to my chest size will see there’s no continuity.”

“The first half of filming I wasn’t pregnant, and the second half I was, and because we didn’t shoot it in order, I start off with huge breasts and then I walk upstairs and suddenly I’ve got tangerines again. It’s melons to tangerines!”

Helena, 41, and Tim Burton, 49, were nominated for Golden Globe awards for Sweeney Todd – she for best actress, he for best director.
