Bitch fight - Noel Fielding and Russell Brand fight over fashion

Filed under: Celebrity, Fashion, Fashion - Mens, Fashion - Star Style, News, TV, Video — Jess January 13, 2009 @ 6:40 pm

Noel Fielding

Noel Fielding has told Metro, that he was the first person to make the smart/emo/goth look into fashion. Noel has also said in Metro that Russell Brand has copied his signature look.

Russell Brand

Noel made his big break in 1997, when his stand up comedy routine gave him the edge for Radio and TV success. Russell started his career as an MTV presenter and stand up comedien, and made it big in the public domain when he presented the first few series of Big Brother’s Big Mouth in 2004.

The pair used to get on - on TV at least - on Channel 4’s Big Fat Quiz of the Year.

Noel Fielding

Noel, 35, is apparantly is fed up of being mistaken for Russell Brand, 33, and is now hitting back - this might have somthing to do with Russell making a very big splash in the money pool of America’s movie market.

Russell Brand

Russell Brands style is best described as Byronic or Dickensian with a Pirate twist, while Noel has always seemed to me to be more of a cyber-goth/glam rock kind of guy, much more interesting.

Noel told Metro, ‘I have had this look long before he came out’ he continued that russell had ‘borrowed’ his style.

Noel Fielding shouldn’t worry about being mistaken for Russell Brand, from a fashion point of view, they have very different styles.

Noel Fielding and Russell Brand

There is no competition in my eyes, Russell Brand is sexier (but seriously, who would shag him now?) Noel Fielding is definitly the more fashionable and exciting style wise.

At least Noel has an entire wardrobe of clothes and different looks, Russell Brand hasn’t changed his style since 2004.

Mens fashion - spring / summer 2008 - Captivating Colours

Draw attention (of the right kind) this summer, it’s a time to ditch the dull and drab entries of your wardrobe and bring on the bright and bold.

Colour has been used by alomst every top designer for their spring/summer 2008 catwalks, and the colours are crisp, clear and contrasting.

Louis Vuitton - Spring / Summer 2008 Collection
This luxurious and expensive shade of blue graced much of Louis Vuitton’s spring/summer collection. Wear this shade with white, grey or black. Suits all skin tones.

Z Zegna - Spring / Summer 2008 Collection
Z Zegna used this luxurious shade of blue on their catwalk with white to make a classy impact. I have a strong feeling this shade of blue will be every where this season - and next.

Paul Smith - Spring / Summer 2008 Collection
Paul Smith combined some very unusual colour combinations, but you have to agree they work. To make an impact like this outfit you have to be bold and mix colours you otherwise wouldn’t. Think of this look as the geek-chic style made trendy.

Burberry Prorsum - Spring / Summer 2008 collection
Burberry used crisp, clear colours on the catwalk, this shade of green would suit all skin tones.

Gucci - Spring / Summer 2008 Collection
If you want to make an impact - like Gucci did on this seasons catwalks - brighten up any outfit with this 80’s inspired colour. Wear this bright teal shade with black, suits all skin tones.

John Galliano - Spring / Summer 2008 Collection
John Galliano was influenced by ‘Urban Warfare’ this season. In John Galliano’s collection, an exciting shade of green accompanied most of his pieces.

Calvin Klein - Spring / Summer 2008 Collection
Calvin Klein crossed masculine and feminin with this shade of powdered plum. If you are buying a very mascline outfit - like a suit - choose a colour that will soften the look, but only slightly. This tone would look great next to either light or dark skin, if you have mid-tone skin choose this colour a shade lighter or darker - you choose.

Jil Sander - Spring / Summer 2008 Collection
Rusty red shades were abundant on the catwalks this season. Jil Sander updated the classic suit to fit with this seasons styles. Rusty red shades wills suit mosts skin tones, but will look especially good on lighter skin. If you have darker skin try to find this rust colour a shade or two lighter than the one shown here.

Moschino - Spring / Summer 2008 Collection
Moschino was taking no prisoners at their spring/summer catwalk, the bold combination of radiant red with brilliant white would attract any one’s attention. This style may worry some men, but it is spot on trend and the contrast between the two colours are so crisp. Any man with the confidence to wear this look will suit it, if you’re not confortable with colours that bright there are many more to choose from.

Fendi - Spring / Summer 2008 Collection
Fendi hit a spot with this egg yolk yellow, ever since their spring/summer 2008 catwalk this colour has been on every high street, in many different forms. I find this colour looks amazing with mid to dark coloured skin, if you’re fair skinned a slightly darker mustard yellow may suit you better.

D&G - Spring / Summer 2008 collection
D&G - Spring / Summer 2008 collection
Liven up otherwise dull colours, like grey, with pattern and texture in your fabrics. D&G displayed some very intricate and detailed textures in their outfits. Use these muted colours (grey, brown, beige, black) and textures with some of the hot shades that have hit the catwalks and highstreets this season.

It’s not a good idea to wear colours that clash with each other (and you) so find a shade to suit your complexion and wear your chosen colour with grey, black, brown or beige.

Floral Fashion for men

Nano Flowers

Flowers and fashion have always had long history together and have consistantly been the more successfull prints when moving from the catwalks to the highstreet.

Men, women and children can all wear floral patterns easily, this is one reason for their popularity. The spring/summer catwalk collections have shown you don’t just have to have the pretty, girlie flower prints that we know so well, a surreal and artisic side to floral prints has emerged. In spring/summer 2008 flowers will be everywhere, the clothes you buy reflect the great variety of flowers in the world, exoctic or English country, vivid bright colours of calm pastel shades, large prints or tight intricate prints, the choice seems unlimited.

Floral prints and patterns work well if you want to manipulate the way your body looks. You can add a flower prints and colour to parts of your body to make them look bigger, and wear black, navy or any dark colour you want on the parts of your body you want to draw attention away from. Large patterns draw the eye to the prints you’ve picked, and the eye will then follow the pattern around the outfit, this creates the illusion of size.

To draw the attention away from any part of your body you are not completly happy with wear floral prints on trainers or jackets, which the majority of the time will compliment your shape (any shape) and you can update your wardrobe with this seasons prints.

If you just want to be slightly more fashionable, without extra hassle, just add dashes of floral designs throughout your wardrobe.

Women:

Women worldwide have always responded well to floral prints, and this summer is no different.

Prada has introduced art into the frame, and displayed some incredibly detailed and surreal outfits on the catwalk. The use of colour in the Prada showed how much attention could be had by the right prints in the right colours.

Floral prints are perfect for the attraction/distraction techniques that work so effectivly. The attraction/distraction techniques works by finding your best asset and your worst, wear a bold and bright pattern or accessorie on your best asset and wear a dark plain fabric on your worst. When choosing dark fabrics it may not always be best to chose black, it’s such a stong colour it can somtimes draw more attention, I find navy, brown and dark purples work most successfully - in the summer at least.

The criss cross top works for both a full busted woman and a not so full busted woman. The straps have three adjustable slots in the back of the swimsuit. The straps can also be criss crossed for added support. This plus size swimsuit has soft bra cups and a full tummy tamer inside. London Fashion week is almost upon us

Filed under: Fashion, Fashion - Mens, Fashion - Womens, News — Jess February 8, 2008 @ 9:15 pm

With 2008’s London Fashion week almost unpon us, I had to sing the praises of 2 new designers that have the pleasure of displaying their gorgeous clothes on the catwalk next week.

London Fashion week is well known for introducing new talented designers to our pages, and although there are plenty of favourites, including Vivienne Westwood’s new collection, we have to celebrate the intuition of these new designer’s on the scene.

Both these designer’s are friends and work close to each other, and although both tend towards the 80’s it’s in very different ways.

House of Holland Henry Holland

Henry Holland, who designs for House of Holland, is a new designer with a talent for updating key looks for this millenium. Henry takes his inspiration from the 80’s for the most of his designs, and combines modern trends like hot pants with and his trade mark bold t-shirts.

House of Holland Henry Holland

Apart from his cute rhyming t’s, like the now classic “Save The Rave” design, Henry Holland has designed some celebrity slogans in his Fashion Groupies collection including this Gareth Pugh t-shirt.

You have probably seen more of Henry Holland’s designs than you thought, and with his skill for pattern and colour you’ll be seeing a lot more of him and not just at London Fashion week.

House of Holland Henry Holland

Henry Holland brings us some daring new designs in his spring/summer 2008 collection, that will be shown next week.

Gareth Pugh

Gareth Pugh started his career in the fashion industry as a costume designer at the tender age of 14, and since then he has become noturious for his trademark inflated clothing.

Gareth spent a short time on fashion reality tv, which at the time Gareth called “horrible” and “the only other option to being on the dole.”

This wil be Gareth’s 3rd London Fashion Week, each being more impressive as the last. Gareth has worked with Kylie Minogue who since working with him still has to shower the talented designer with the praise he deserves.

Both these young talented designers are at the begining’s of their career’s and are working their hardest to get the best collection out on display.

See both Henry Holland and Gareth Pugh at London Fashion Week, which will start on Sunday the 10th Feb with the last shows on the 15th Feb.
